Weekly Inspiration- Atlantic-Pacific’s Bee

January 14, 2011

For this week’s inspiration I have looked to a fellow fashion blogger to be my muse.  I came across her blog a few weeks ago and since then I can’t get enough.  As per the blogs namesake, Atlantic-Pacific, she combines East and West Coast style perfectly.  I love that she can be preppy one day and glam the next.  But best of all she mixes designer pieces with mass market brands which really goes to show that if you invest in a few quality items you can play around to fill in the rest!  Meet Bee from Atlantic-Pacific….

A Classic Lady

January 13, 2011

With the cancellation of the mini series about the Kennedy’s on the History Channel I have been thinking about the classic style of Jackie- O all day (okay well maybe not all day).  To top it off all I have been reading about is about how classic jackets from the days of CoCo Chanel will be the hot item to be seen in this Spring.  Here is my take on the feminine jacket, paired with some other great classics, a  pair of cropped skinny dress pants and some delicate gold earrings.   I would also throw on a ton of gold bangles just to make the look more modern and add some personality to the outfit.

1. Jacket, Anthropologie $148.00

2. Ballet Flats, Tori Burch $178.00

3. Minnie Pant, JCrew $79.50

4. Tote, Marc by Marc Jacobs $528.00

5. Stud Earrings, Gorjana $50.00

{Faux} Fur

Since my post on Friday I have been very much into the whole fur or faux fur trend.  While many may be looking a head to what spring fashion has in store, it is still REALLY cold out, and I think it’s will be staying like this for a few months or so.  I think a fur (or faux fur) vest is really an easy way to spruce up a classic outfit of dark skinny jeans and a white button down.  (Almost everyone should have these two items in their closet).  The best advice I can give when looking for a fur, is to not pick something so poofy, or something that has so much fur you look like the vest is wearing you and not the other way around.   Layer the vest over a classic white button down blouse and accessorize with some cute but casual shoes and a classic black hobo bag and you are good to go.

Mango, Faux Fur Vest $86.03 (Sale)

Elizaabeth and James, Cotton Shirt $225.00

J Brand, High-Rise Skinny Jeans $195.00

Lauren Merkin Snake Embossed Hobo $495.00

Dolce Vita, Oxford Wedges $89.00

If you are looking for a more wallet friendly alternative to a button down and jeans try a J Crew top like this one, and the new Gap line of denim seen here!

What trends are inspiring everyone else lately?

Weekly Inspiration

January 7, 2011

One of my news years resolutions is: to be more consistent.  That includes regular posts on my blog.  Each Friday I will post my Inspirational Look Of The Week.  This week’s photo as taken from Elle’s Street Chic series.  The men’s cut pants, with the fur vest are genius, and the shoes adds the right amount of color!  She looks amazing!

This styled look makes me want to pair my fur vest with something other than jeans.  Peep the rest of Elle’s Street Chic Styles here

These are a few of my favorite things…

Happy New Year!  Sorry for my lack of posting the past few weeks.  I’ve been trying to get back to life after the holidays.  I’ve also been thinking a lot about what I want to do on this blog moving forward.  Hopefully as time goes on you will like my changes!  This holiday season was by far one of my favorites.  Maybe it’s true what they say that as you get older you really do appreciate all the time you get to spend with friends and family.

Here are some of my favorite pieces I have newly acquired during the holidays.

Crop Top Asos

Carrera and Celine Sunnies

….think they represent the sophisticate and punk rocker in me

Mini Skirt, Forever 21

The best purchase for New Years in a long time

Mulberry Alexa Bag, so classic!

Gorjana Cuff Ring from the boy…also seen here

What was your favorite gift this year?

Let It Snow!

December 26, 2010

I promise I will get back to blogging about important things like bags, shoes, and clothes really soon.  But for now there is the most beautiful snow happening outside and I thought I would share it with everyone.  NY is supposed to get up to 2 ft, I can’t wait to take Jackson outside to play!

Happy Snow!
