Christmas Traditions

December 24, 2010

Merry Christmas Eve!  Being home reminds me of all the traditions, big and small that make Christmas special.  This year my parents even waited for me to decorate the Christmas tree.  Decorating the tree in our house is always a production.  But, it wouldn’t be Christmas without an argument or two about how the lights look, or what ornaments go where, or why the village isn’t put up yet.  For the first time in a few years my dad decided to dust off the old fashion tree lights, which although look really amazing I’m almost positive they aren’t used much anymore because they are a starter of house fires…but pretty none the less.  I love unpacking the ornaments and seeing some of my favorite ones from childhood like my first set of ballet shoes from my aunt (later learning that I hated everything about ballet), or my brother’s first ornament from when he was born.  I’ve also noticed that our tree has become somewhat “egg” themed, from the various trip my parents have taken to Germany.  But, I have to admit they are really gorgeous eggs :).   After all was said and done the tree looked amazing, and now our house is all ready for Santa!

Even Jackson behaved himself long enough to watch us decorate!

Hope everyone is enjoying the last 24 hours before Christmas day!
