Peace, Love And Fall Fashion: 2010 Fall Fashion Trends

July 8, 2010

I know it feels like we have just stepped into summer, and is busy sporting their maxi dresses, and distressed jean shorts with racer back tanks.  But in the spirit of  Paris’s Haute Couture  Fashion Week collections parading down the runways I thought I would bring to light some of the fashion trends that all you fashionistas out there (young and old) can look forward to.  One trend that we still see happening on the runways for the fall are the romantic ruffles.  Both Valentino and Dior had some eye-catching new twists on the romantic ruffle.

Designer: Dior

Designer: Valentino

Another trend that seems to be staying for another season, and is quite possibly my favorite of them all, is the rock ‘n’ roll, heavy metal hardware look.  Here are some pieces by Chanel and YSL:

Designer: Yves Saint Laurent

Finally where as last year nude was the new black, black is back!  Many designers made the statement that the color black is here to stay.  From black leather, to the LBD and seriously, who can argue with that?

Designer: Balmain

Now keeping these designer inspirations in mind, here are a few ways I see every trendsetter can incorporate these trends into their fall wardrobe for a fraction of what these Haute Couture looks would cost.

The Romantic Ruffle:

Anthropologie's Lingering Rays Skirt $98

Anthropologie's Rochelle Blouse $88

Heavy Metal Rocker:

Lacquer Jersey Moto Jacket $129 (on sale)

Fallon Link Gem Necklace $265

Basic Black:

Theory's Raman Dress $120

Theory's Britley Skirt $95

Although I am not rushing to get summer over with, I can’t wait to see these fall trends walking down the streets of D.C.

Peace, love and fall fashion!
